Species Information

Pockmark Peach

  • Scientific name: Capsicum chinense ‘Pockmark Peach’
  • Origin: Modern hybrid, prized for its peach colour and blistered skin
  • Plant habit: Compact plants, 70–90 cm tall
  • Fruit size: Medium pods, 4–6 cm, ripening peach‑orange with textured skin
  • Scoville Heat Units (SHU): ~150,000–300,000 SHU (very hot)
  • Flavour profile: Intensely fruity, tropical notes with searing heat
  • Yield: Lower yield, producing striking pods throughout the later season

Chocolate Ghost

  • Scientific name: Capsicum chinense ‘Chocolate Ghost’
  • Origin: India, variation of Bhut Jolokia with chocolate colour
  • Plant habit: Tall plants, 80–100 cm, with dense foliage
  • Fruit size: Wrinkled pods, 6–8 cm, ripening deep brown
  • Scoville Heat Units (SHU): ~800,000–1,000,000 SHU (superhot)
  • Flavour profile: Incredibly hoy, smoky, earthy and rich
  • Yield: High-yielding, producing clusters of superhot pods

Machu Picchu

  • Origin: Peru, named after the famous Incan site

  • Fruit size: Medium uniquely shaped bulbous pods, 5–7 cm, ripening to deep brown

Vampire
